1906, Aboriginals in Police custody.

The first group of European migrants arrived in Australia in January 1788. Australia was first settled on to provide a place of punishment for british convicts. The settlers had trouble understanding the Australian environment unlike the first habitants of the land, the Aborigines who understood the Australian environment inside out. The Europeans ignored the beliefs and values of the aborigines and did not understand their connection to Australia as for a child and his mothers. The European settlement was seen as an invasion to the aborigines and the spread of European civilisation was seen as a conquest which led to the near destruction of aboriginal civilisation. The aboriginals were severely impacted by the Early White Settlement then and now still.
